Deep Listening on Country
Gimuy Experiences 1-4 days
If you are looking to meet your RAP Actions and have great things to report on your Annual RAP Impact Statement then this program is for you.
Karen Reys, Sue Reys and Henry Fourmile are working in partnership and our business is all about 'Healing Together on Country' to offer professional learning experiences for education institutions, government agencies and corporations.

The self-paced, Deep Listening on Country program offers an opportunity to learn from the Traditional Owners and Elders as they share their wisdom and knowledge that connect them to Country. The word for deep listening in the Guugu Yimithirr language is Guurrbi. "When we make the time and space to listen deeply we are planning for our future", say Uncle Willie Gordon, Cultural Mentor.

In our program, guests will visit sacred places, participate in traditional practices, learn about yourself, and walk away with a deeper understanding of First Nations peoples, culture, history and spirituality.

More than a tour, this is an exploration of the unique stories of Gimuy, Cairns area that have shaped the First Nations people.
Experience the local cultural traditions and stories firsthand with Henry Fourmile, Gimuy Wallabara Yidinji Elder, in the 'On Country' Workshop.
Henry is a descendant of his great grandfather King Yeini of Cairns. Experience a Welcome to Country and a traditional Smoking Ceremony. Gain insights, on a guided walk along the esplanade while hearing the Gimuy peoples connection to place and Country and their unique ways of knowing.
Go on a historical journey of Cairns from an Indigenous perspective
Beyond just history, in the 'Frontier Wars & Historical Timeline' Workshop, integrating personal stories, historical and political perspectives local and nation-wide, and exploring the valuable contributions of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community to Australian society.
