Deep Listening on Country Gimuy Experience

Building cultural understanding through relationship, story, and connection to Country.

Smoking Ceremony

Smoking Ceremony, Gimuy Country, Cairns

Community & Professional Workshops

On Country cultural learning experiences for organisations, teams, and community groups.

This program supports organisations to strengthen cultural capability, deepen understanding of First Nations perspectives, and contribute meaningfully to their reconciliation commitments.

Led by Karen Reys, Sue Reys, and Henry Fourmile, these professional learning experiences bring together Indigenous knowledge, deep listening, storytelling, and learning on Country for education, government, community, and corporate sectors.

A Self-Paced Cultural Learning Experience

The Deep Listening on Country program offers participants an opportunity to learn directly from Traditional Owners and Elders, gaining insight into the stories, knowledge, values, and relationships that connect people to Country.

In Guugu Yimithirr, the word for deep listening is Guurrbi. "When we make the time and space to listen deeply we are planning for our future", says Cultural Mentor, Uncle Willie Gordon.

Across the program, participants visit significant places, engage in cultural practices, learn through story and reflection, and develop a deeper understanding of First Nations peoples, culture, history, and spirituality.

More than a tour, this is an invitation to learn through relationship, connection, and Country.

What People Are Saying

"Uncle Henry, Susan and Karen brought acknowledgement to life, nature is more than a peaceful place to be and I will now renew my focus on removing my assumptions, bias and labels from the students in my care. Thank you." – Catholic Education Services, 2022

"The wisdom, honesty, stories and genuine connection shared by Karen, Sue and Henry is very much appreciated. Self-selected experiences gave everyone a personal and professional learning experience. The sharing by staff at the end was touching, deeply personal and allowed for connection to each other as well as with the Elders who led us during the day." – St Francis Xavier School, 2023
